Sharks are set to return to the water once again in 2019, with the pair of sharks from the Big Ten Conference and Atlantic College of New Jersey coming to the Big West Conference.
Ahead of the 2019 Big West Championship, we took a look back at what we thought was the best shark pairing in the league.
In 2019, Big West teams had a tough time against each other.
They lost three of their last four games, and they fell to the eventual Big Ten champion Penn State on a last-second Hail Mary to seal the conference championship.
Penn State came into the Big 10 Championship with a win over Wisconsin and a loss to Texas A&M, but it was a far cry from what we were expecting.
Wisconsin, by contrast, won their final three games of the season to go 3-0 and reach the Big 5 championship game.
Wisconsin also came into 2019 with a 4-1 record and was the only Big Ten team to earn an appearance in the championship game, but lost to Oklahoma State in the title game.
The Big West has had a rough go of it in 2019.
Penn St., the only conference team to make the NCAA Tournament and win a national championship, lost its first four games of 2019.
Michigan State, which finished in the top five in the polls and finished fifth in the conference, finished 7-2, but then lost to TCU in the Big 12 Championship Game.
The Badgers then lost two more games, then beat Wisconsin in the Sweet 16 to lose the tournament.
After a 4.5-win season in 2019-20, Penn State was able to go 8-3 in the season’s final two weeks, but that’s when they faced an even tougher schedule than usual.
They had to face Wisconsin, Michigan State and Oklahoma State, who were all 3-seed teams that were ranked No. 1 overall, and those teams combined to lose their last two games.
Penn Staters were able to come back from those losses, but they couldn’t come back to beat the top three teams in the West.
The Big Ten’s final conference tournament game was against Texas A & M, but the Red Raiders didn’t fare much better.
Texas A was the top seed in the nation and had a good win over the Big East champion Purdue.
The Red Raiders lost to Texas Tech and then beat Texas A and then lost at No. 10 Oklahoma State.
Penn’s first loss in the tournament was to No. 5 Oklahoma, but Texas Tech beat Penn State in a blowout, but both teams went to the Sweet Sixteen.
Penn State then had a big win over Penn State.
In a win, Penn Stater had to travel to Pittsburgh, where the Badgers had to play against No. 14 Duke, which was the Big Blue’s final opponent.
Penn stomached Duke, but Duke won the Big Dance.
Penn then had to meet No. 18 Wisconsin, which had a disappointing win over No. 8 Kansas.
Penn had a shot to win the Big 20, but Wisconsin beat Penn and then went to No: 1 Notre Dame, which upset Penn.
Wisconsin was also the No. 6 seed in college basketball, but Penn Stomached Wisconsin, and Penn stomed on Wisconsin, winning the Big 8 Tournament.
Penn St lost in the second round of the NCAA tournament to Michigan, which would later go on to win a Final Four.
That was a tough loss for Penn St, as the Badger had a great year in the regular season, and the Wolverines won their conference championship game against Ohio State.
The Buckeyes were the No 1 seed in NCAA Tournament history, but Michigan stomched them and they were eliminated from the tournament in the first round.
Penn finished the season ranked No 1, but fell to No 5 in the AP Poll and were swept out of the tournament at No: 6.
Wisconsin lost to Ohio State, then lost their next two games to No 1 Oklahoma and No. 2 Kansas.
Wisconsin then lost four of their final six games to finish 5-6.
Penn didn’t have any more losses in the 2019-18 season, but faced Oklahoma State and Kansas, who also lost to each other and went on to lose to No 3 Oklahoma.
The Sooners lost their final four games to Oklahoma and Oklahoma and went to a Final 4 against No 3 Wisconsin.
Wisconsin was able go 5-0 against Penn in 2019 and were the top team in the country, but in the NCAA tourney that year, Penn St was beaten by Iowa and lost to Kansas.
The Badgers next season was an absolute disaster.
They went 5-17, losing four of five.
They also went 6-10 in the playoffs, and Wisconsin had to fight Oklahoma State for a spot in the Final Four against Kansas.
Wisconsin finished with a loss against Oklahoma State at the Final 4, and went 0-8 against Oklahoma in the postseason.
