It is not a normal operation, the plane carrying the troops is flying into a Saudi desert and flying into the desert without a runway, the US military says.
The Pentagon says the plane is carrying around 250 US troops from the 4th Brigade Combat Team of the 2nd Infantry Division.
“The aircraft is equipped with the latest air-to-air and air-ground weapons, including the Global Hawk, Apache and Apache Sparrow helicopters, the Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C), and is also carrying equipment that will help our soldiers better support operations in the region,” said Brigadier General Charles Miller in a statement.
“The mission is also to facilitate and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
We are confident that the mission will yield results for the people of Yemen.”
The plane is expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia on Sunday afternoon.
It will stay in the kingdom for three weeks.
